Meet the team: Emma Rawlings

We spoke to Emma Rawlings, the SightCare CEO, about her experiences and what she gets up to away from work.

I am in the privileged position of steering the ship at SightCare, guiding the organisation with a clear focus on our strategic aims and objectives. Central to everything we do is our unwavering commitment to placing our members at the heart of our work. I am continually scanning the horizon, ensuring that SightCare remains at the forefront of the optical sector by introducing innovative ideas and solutions that bring real value to our members. Alongside this, I carefully manage risk so that we continue to deliver high-quality services and products that strengthen the organisation and safeguard its future. I am deeply proud of what we represent and remain dedicated to driving excellence in our field.

Away from my professional role, family life is a constant source of joy and energy. I have been married to my husband, an engineer, for 31 years, and together we have raised two children who are now adults. Cars are very much a family passion—whether it’s drifting, track racing, or classic show cars, we have an array to suit every occasion. Eventually, I decided not just to watch from the sidelines, and purchased my own 1969 Mk1 Ford Escort, fully embracing the shared enthusiasm.

Alongside family and career, I have always found fulfilment in sport and the outdoors. Running was my first passion, leading me to complete 7 marathons and countless half marathons and 10Ks. As a qualified UK Athletics Running Coach, I led women’s running groups in Bath and Dorset, supporting others to discover the same sense of empowerment that running had given me. Today, cycling has taken centre stage (to preserve my knees). I compete in time trials and endurance events, and every weekend I can be found exploring the countryside of Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire on two wheels. Over the miles, I’ve also come to know every café worth stopping at—my golden rule: if it’s full of cyclists, you can be sure it’s one of the best.
