Making the most of Twitter for your business
Twitter sometimes receives bad press but used correctly, Twitter can be a huge promotional tool for your independent business. Twitter is constantly evolving and changing, so we have put together this handy blog to remind and update you about the best features of the ever-growing social network.
Here are some tips to get the best from Twitter.
- Keep your bio up to date.
Every Twitter account has an “Edit profile” button at the top of the page. You are forced to keep your business description concise to fit, so take some time to draft and update your description. Under the general outline, you can add a clickable website link and location so again, check there regularly to ensure new visitors to your Twitter account are directed appropriately.
- Use the ‘Pinned tweet’ function
Pinning is a great way to direct your followers to new offers and announcements. After drafting your tweet, select the “pin to profile” button in the tweet and it will appear at the top of your timeline for as long as you want it there. Replace this regularly with new offers or announcements for regular customers to notice.
- Retweet yourself!
Do you have some great news to share? Whether it’s an offer, a new member of staff, a change to opening hours or an award you’ve won, don’t be scared to shout about it more than once! Use the retweet button on your own tweets the same way you would with others.
- Tag your images
When posting an image with a tweet, there is now the option to tag other Twitter accounts. Use this function to share your tweets in your community as well as those featured in your images.
- Use the list function
Have you taken the time to create Twitter lists? You can easily add accounts you find useful to follow to a list, and you can create multiple lists for your account. Why not create lists of other SightCare members, your regular customers and other businesses in your local community? Lists make it easy to follow tweets from your favourite accounts in one place.
- Retweet and quote
Using the retweet and comment function is a great way to engage. Add comments to tweets your followers are likely to engage with. This is super-easy to do on the Twitter mobile app.
- @SightCareGroup
SightCare and SightCare Local have over 9k followers so remember to use @SightCareGroup and @SightCareLocalwhen posting your tweets.
