#StrongerTogether – SightCare’s Photo Collage Challenge
When lockdown began, SightCare joined forces with various optical organisations to partake in the #StrongerTogether movement, in which optical businesses and organisations joined forces to offer services for free to make sure that no optical practice had to feel alone during lockdown.
To celebrate the movement, SightCare member and director Sukie Woodhouse from Woodhouse Opticians created a photo collage which represents how people from all parts of the independent sector – from SightCare members, to non members, suppliers and SightCare staff joined together to make sure that although we are independent, we are not alone, and of course – to reflect that we are #StrongerTogether. We asked via SightCare Dialogue – our member email forum, our Facebook group ‘SightCare Members’ and our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram pages for your selfies – and you certainly delivered! We had PPE selfies, dogs, mascot costumes, family shots, reflections on happier pre-COVID times just to name a few.How many people do you recognise in the photo?
As part of the movement, we ran free weekly webinars on a range of topics from business to fitness, as well as training videos and a very popular webinar on infection control with our training partners InSight Optical Training, who also provided lots of training videos for optical support staff – you can view our free webinars here.
SightCare Premium held free weekly Question Time webinars with industry experts from across the globe. You can watch these videos – which cover topics from pricing, to whether you should go private, marketing and the future of optics – here for free.
SightCare Premium also offered free Covid support groups to offer more tailored support with our expert business coaches. To find out more about SightCare Premium and SightCare Premium Lite, click here.
At SightCare we also opened up our member-only Facebook group – SightCare Members – for everybody in the independent optical field to join. In the Facebook group we post weekly news updates, social media images and posters to help practices get messages out through the pandemic, advice, polls, interesting or breaking news and a place where independents could feel supported.
We also launched our video campaign – ‘Share your love for independents’ – which reached over 30,000 on Facebook alone. You can share the video here and if you are a SightCare member, download posters, social media images and a press release template here.
While it may have been a rocky year, it has been a delight seeing how the independent community have supported their communities and of course each other. It’s been great virtually meeting new people, and getting to know those we already know better. While we have reflected on all the hard work of the first half of the year, we still have many opportunities to look forward to in the second half – and we hope that the latter half of the year is better than the first half!
