PR Tips Series – #3 Creating PR Opportunities
The last blog posts covered content creation and collaborating in your local community…but how do you get ideas for generating content in the first place? There are a number of different ideas and resources that you can tap into to generate good PR opportunities for your practice.
Surveys and statistics can be very popular with the media and can be another easy way to get your name in the public eye. If you conduct patient surveys, the statistics and results gathered from these are a great PR opportunity, especially if you have a lot of satisfied patients!
By carrying out surveys and publishing the results, you can establish your credibility on a topic and raise your profile. Not only will the figures be useful market research, but also the media may pick up on some of the more unusual results to make a story.
Running competitions in your practice is another newsworthy area that should be publicized as widely as possible. Keep an eye on what’s available and look for an opportunity to create a patient competition and promote it through the press and through display materials.
Local Business Awards or Industry awards also present an ideal PR opportunity (particularly if you win). You can incorporate any awards onto your practice stationery and literature, as well as sending press releases to the local media and posting on your social media sites.
Holding an event to celebrate any milestone can offer the press an interesting story to publish and you can get creative with as many ideas as possible to get people visiting you.
