Industry Awards -5 reasons why it’s a no-brainer to enter.
For the first time, we have followed our own advice and entered some industry awards and have been shortlisted (and if we are doing our job properly – you will have hopefully already known that!) Being shortlisted for an award gives you a great excuse to communicate with your audience and tell the world about you and generally get people talking about you – a great piece of free marketing. What else can you gain from entering awards
If you’re shortlisted or even better – win – the publicity opportunities are endless! Here’s what Jean Kelly from Eglinton Eyecare said about winning the SIghtCare Independent Practice of the Year award last year:
“It was a fantastic recognition for the contribution that everyone in our team makes, and we returned home buzzing and enthused to continue to deliver the very best experience for our patients. Winning these high-profile National Awards was not only a huge boost for our team but also for the business. We were excited to share the news with our local community and made the most of the opportunity to post plenty of photos of us with the awards on social media and in our personalised newsletters. It really helped raise our profile in the community and we’ll be enjoying the benefits of being Award-Winning Opticians for many years to come.”
2. Review your business
The act of completing the application in the first place and seeing your achievements and activity written down gives you a chance to review your business and see what you have done well and identify areas for growth (and your next year’s application!)
3. Boost Team Morale
When our team found out that we had been shortlisted for the award – it was a real boost to team morale. Much like your team, we all work really hard and it is a real boost to hear that it has been recognised both within the organisation in that we had confidence in our won work to enter, as well as outside the organisation from experts judging the success.
4. Positioning in the Market
Nothing says you’re a force to contend with like an award! It’s a fantastic way to communicate to your local community, suppliers, your clients and your competition that the service you offer is second to none and that you are a trusted expert in your field.
5. Increases customer loyalty and retention
As a customer, why would you leave an award-winning practice? Entering and winning business awards demonstrates to your customers that your business leads the way in their field, reinforcing their reasons for using you in the first place. It also helps build loyalty as customers are always keen to stick with businesses who are perceived to be doing well.
